Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Supervisor to lead the Property Service for a local authority project in North Yorkshire. You will oversee day-to-day building maintenance, capital works, and highway-related tasks, supervising operatives and subcontractors while enforcing quality, environmental, and safety standards.

The role is on-site, 40 hours per week, for a 3-month contract with availability for out-of-hours call-outs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Property, Civil Engineering, Building and Construction management.
• Good understanding of Quality Assurance and health and safety legislation.
• Good knowledge of JCT/NEC forms of Contract.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily works programmes, planning materials, plant and labour while collating costs to meet financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements, develop safety plans, and oversee IMS procedures such as site inspections and inductions.
• Line manage operational staff, including coaching, mentoring, and conducting end-of-year performance reviews (PDR process).
• Assess traffic management, ensuring all works align with legal streetworks requirements.
• Record site progress, ensure valuations are generated, and accurately maintain records in relevant systems for audit purposes.
• Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota (including nights, weekends, and bank holidays) to respond to emergency maintenance activities.

Experience

• Proven experience managing projects in the Property, Civil Engineering, Building, and Construction Industry, delivering on time and within budget.
• Good understanding of Quality Assurance and working knowledge of implementing relevant health and safety legislation.
• Good knowledge of JCT/NEC forms of Contract.

Qualifications

• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), CSCS Managers Card, First Aid at Work, and CITB MAP Health, Safety & Environment Test.
• 6 NVQ Construction Site Management or HNC/HND, Temporary Works Coordinator, Fire Marshall, NEBOSH/IOSH, and Asbestos Aware.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office packages (Word, Excel).

Additional Information

• Working hours: 40 hours per week (Includes participation in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota)
• Enhanced DBS Check required (with Children’s Barred List)
• Full driving licence and use of a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire sites
• We work on a biweekly payment schedule.
• This is an Onsite/Field-based North Yorkshire (Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and undertake physical requirements)
