Job Description:

The Asset Lead – Structures will sit within the asset investment team reporting to the Asset Investment Manager. This role will work closely with the rest of the Connect Plus Team, Connect Plus Services (the O&M Company) and other key project stakeholders, to oversee all asset management activities for highways structures assets (i.e., specified and strategic structures, Dartford Crossing and tunnels).

From a client-side perspective, this role will own asset management strategies for structure assets in line with DBFO’s handback and performance requirements, provide strategic guidance and support to the business enabling effective and consistent roll out & execution of asset management strategies, and continuously drive asset management excellence to mature the approach.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work within the Project Company (SPV) of a major infrastructure project and directly interface with senior stakeholders, parent company, and supply chain across the whole life cycle of highways linear assets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The Asset Lead Structures will work within the Asset Investment Team, overseeing all asset management activities for highways structure assets, including specified and strategic structures, Dartford Crossing, and tunnels.
  • Ownership of Asset Management Strategies for highways structure assets covering inspection, maintenance, and renewal.
  • Act as a Connect Plus sponsor in gateway meetings for lifecycle renewal projects for highways structure assets, ensuring project benefits within budget.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Commercial teams to optimize scope and resolve technical issues.
  • Support technical approvals and proposals, managing departures from standards.
  • Promote innovation, efficiency, and carbon reduction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop business cases for innovation based on asset risks and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the Asset Management Forward Plan and Annual Asset Management Report.
  • Understand and challenge Asset Management IT systems, including Asset Investment Planning Toolkits.
  • Support updates to the asset management system, ensuring ISO 55001 compliance.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to understand impacts of standards and third-party schemes.
  • Maintain knowledge of contractual and system requirements related to asset management.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with an engineering background or similar, experienced in managing large, complex infrastructure assets (preferably highways structures) from a client perspective.

  • Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent) or relevant accreditation.
  • Ability to develop and challenge Asset Management Strategies for highway structures in line with handback requirements.
  • Decision-making skills balancing stakeholder needs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proactive and autonomous operation in a senior team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • IT literacy; knowledge of Asset Management IT systems is a plus.
