Job summary

Service Care is recruiting for a Highway Structures Inspector/Engineer in West Sussex on a long-term contract. Hybrid working with approx. 2 days in the office and flexible/home-based remainder. £23.60 per hour PAYE / £29.84 per hour Umbrella, 37 hours per week.

The role focuses on technical review, QA and sign-off of bridge inspection reports, plus site inspections across the county network. Strong bridge inspection expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within bridge engineering and structural inspections.
• Strong understanding of bridge inspection methodologies and assessment processes.
• Experience reviewing and approving technical inspection reports.
• Knowledge of highway structures standards, codes of practice and approval procedures.

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Local Authority in West Sussex for an experienced Highway Structures Inspector / Engineer to join their highways infrastructure team on a long-term contract basis.

This role will focus on the technical review, quality assurance and sign-off of bridge inspection reports, whilst also undertaking bridge and highway structure inspections across the county network as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical review and approval of bridge inspection reports.
• Ensure inspections comply with relevant standards, procedures and industry best practice.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across inspection programmes.
• Carry out bridge and highway structure inspections.
• Assess structural condition and identify maintenance requirements.
• Support the wider highways structures team with specialist engineering expertise.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience within bridge engineering and structural inspections.
• Strong understanding of bridge inspection methodologies and assessment processes.
• Experience reviewing and approving technical inspection reports.
• Knowledge of relevant highway structures standards, codes of practice and approval procedures.
• Ability to work independently across both office-based and site-based activities.
• Full UK Driving Licence desirable due to site visits.
