Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Highway Maintenance Officer to join their Highways team as soon as possible.The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Highways & Transport environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is tooversee and manage highway maintenance works to ensure that the highway network is safe and effectively maintained. The role involves implementing reactive, preventative, and cyclical maintenance schemes acrossthe highway network.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conducting routine highway inspections and documenting findings
  • Responding to reported faults and highway incidents, including emergencies
  • Scoping, ordering, and overseeing maintenance works in partnership with contractors
  • Coordinating and programming work to minimise disruption
  • Engaging with communities and elected members on local highway priorities

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:
  • A qualification in Civil Engineering, Highways, or Construction (HND or equivalent)
  • Current Highway Safety Inspector certification
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Highways & Transport roles
  • Experience managing emergency response and reactive maintenance
  • Ability to engage proactively with elected members and community groups

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £225 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £175 per day PAYE)
