Job summary

Shropshire Council's Highways and Transport Service is seeking an Area Manager Highways North to lead operations for the north area, and to develop asset management strategies for the council’s highway network.

You will be responsible for managing the team and coordinating activities that maintain Shropshire’s highway infrastructure, while serving as the frontline ambassador communicating performance and protecting the service’s reputation.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to be a member of the Highways Maintenance Team within Highways and Transport Service, and as such you will support the achievement of maintenance and improvement key priorities, making a real difference to the lives of people in Shropshire.

Shropshire Councilis responsible for a highway network comprisingof 3,200 miles of road, 2,500 miles of verge, 96,000 highway gullies and catch pits and various structures.

The role is to manage the highways operations for the north area and responsible for developing and overseeing asset management strategies.

This will involve management of the team and operational activities that maintains Shropshire Council’s highway infrastructure to the best possible level, in collaboration with colleaguesand supply chain partnersacross the three maintenance areas.

You will serve as the area representative and front-line ambassador for the highways maintenance service communicating performance and appropriate reputation management.
