An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Sheffield Highway Network Management Team. This team is responsible for coordinating and managing Sheffield’s highway network whilst enabling significant City Centre and local economic redevelopment.
Highway Co-ordination Engineers work proactively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and offer solutions to potential highway and traffic management issues in a timely manner on planned, live and emergency works. A large part of this is based on their ability to interpret legislation or policy and provide guidance on regulatory or technical issues and using this to support and challenge stakeholders when appropriate. Our Highway Co-ordination Engineers also act as a compliance assessor using relevant frameworks and council policies.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive individual with excellent communication skills who has a good understanding of the challenges faced with works on the highways and the proven ability to manage and maintain professional relationships with all types of internal and external stakeholders. This could range from colleagues, Service Managers, Councillors to contractors, developers and members of the public.
A key part of the role involves understanding complex scenarios with competing challenges and simplifying that into practical actions which can be implemented by third parties to enable safe working, the progress of economic redevelopment whilst importantly maintaining the highway and pedestrian network for the public.
