Job description

The ideal candidate will have a passion for physiotherapy in trauma, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider MDT.

You will take a lead role in the assessment, treatment, and management of highly complex patients, including those with trauma orthopaedic / plastics injuries, chest trauma, amputation, and spinal cord injury across the trauma pathway within our MTC.

You will provide leadership, management, and clinical care across the wider Neuro & Trauma team, collaborating with other senior physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

You will be committed to your own learning and development, as well as that of your team. Opportunities to develop leadership, management, and specialist clinical skills will be supported through evidence-based practice with guidance from fellow Band 7s and your Clinical Lead.

Clinical Lead Physiotherapist Neuro & Trauma

To provide clinical leadership across the RLH Major Trauma pathway:

  1. Undertake a team leader role, collaborating with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist, in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the physiotherapy service for patients across the Major Trauma pathway.
  2. Lead in the assessment, treatment, and management of highly complex patients with chest trauma, amputations, spinal cord injuries, and trauma orthopaedic/plastics injuries.
  3. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, social services, and external agencies regarding patient care, progress, and rehabilitation/discharge planning.
  4. Manage the day-to-day clinical and operational aspects of the physiotherapy service, supporting the wider Neuro & Trauma therapy team.
  5. Support and deputise for the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist as needed.
  6. Contribute to the development of the Neuro & Trauma therapy team in line with RLH objectives.
  7. Participate in weekend/bank holiday work and respiratory on-call duties.
