Job summary

We are looking for an experienced SLT with a passion and clinical background in critical care to work within our dedicated SLT service for critical care, embedded within the MDT. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a newly established service and help shape highly specialist care for this client group.

The successful candidate will lead on and coordinate management of adults with a broad range of complex acquired communication and swallowing difficulties within critical care including management of; 'Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness' (PDOC), tracheostomy, videofluoroscopy and FEES

As a team we are committed to innovative practice, quality improvement, audit and research opportunities. You will have access to supervision, support, and development of your clinical skills from highly skilled Speech and Language Therapy colleagues.

You will be required to contribute to the weekend rota delivering supporting the acute stroke wards.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve clinical caseload management and provision of assessment and rehabilitation for patients with dysphagia and/or communication impairments.

There an emphasis on collaborative MDT working.

The role will include access to, and training in FEES and Videofluoroscopy.

To lead service development, quality improvement projects and/or research projects within the critical care setting. This can be supported by the NCA's dedicated Quality Improvement Team and Clinical Research Centre.

The NCA have a designated team delivering leadership development training and all clinicians are encouraged to incorporate this into their learning and development.

You should have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.
