Qualifications

  • Experience in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, evidenced by high-level clinical SLT knowledge.
  • Experience working in inpatient/acute settings is beneficial.

Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (Band 7) (Part Time)

Post: Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (Band 7)
Salary: Up to £55,181 DoE (pro rata)
Hours: Part Time / any 3 days per week, permanent

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist looking to specialise further or a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with an interest in Neuropsychiatry to join our team at Cygnet Brunel.

Cygnet Brunel is a 32-bed Neuropsychiatric service offering neuropsychiatric rehabilitation for individuals with complex acquired brain injury and mental health needs. The hospital is a modern facility designed to provide a clinically led, evidence-based neuropsychiatric pathway for individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge. Our focus is to create a therapeutically rich environment to engage service users, minimize challenging behaviour, and maximize independence.

Job Role

As an SLT, you will work directly with a specialist caseload of patients with complex needs to assess their speech, communication, and language needs (SCLN) in all environments. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on-site, supporting the implementation of therapeutic and neuropsychiatric approaches, and contribute to workforce upskilling.

You will operate within the SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric/neurodegenerative services at the hospital as part of a small on-site SLT team. Responsibilities include providing quality assessments, interventions, and demonstrating skills in both SCLN and dysphagia. You will contribute to the company-wide SLT service and service enhancement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements
  • A degree/postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC, and membership of RCSLT.
  • Experience in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, evidenced by high-level clinical SLT knowledge.
  • Experience working in inpatient/acute settings is beneficial.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning.
  • Qualification in Dysphagia management (training offered if required).
  • Strong team player with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and passion.
