  • Salary:£38,577 - £44,145 per year depending on experience (£48,221 - £55,181 per year WTE)

At Cygnet Hospital Bury, we focus on individual outcomes informed by evidence-based interventions within a multidisciplinary care pathway. We provide specialist units for ongoing and intensive care, including full educational provision for young people with complex mental health issues, and a unique bilingual, secure environment for Deaf men and women, along with high dependency units to support reintegration into the community.

We seek an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work 30 hours per week, providing SLT input across our secure Deaf & Mental Health services, along with consultative support and supervision of SLTs working on the CAMHS services.

Working hours are flexible and open to discussion.

You will conduct high-quality assessments, plan, and implement care programs in individual or group settings using evidence-based practices. You will also provide specialist clinical advice on managing and caring for patients with speech, language, communication needs, and hearing impairments. Skills in British Sign Language (BSL) are desirable, but training can be provided at all levels.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver clinical services for a complex client group using assessment and intervention skills within a structured framework
  • Produce reports reflecting your specialist knowledge and summarizing clinical progress
  • Provide clinical supervision to a small team of SLTs
  • Deliver services in line with the service’s Models of Care and organizational policies
  • Conduct staff training and teaching at the site
  • Participate in planning, development, and evaluation of the SLT service

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Desirable: Signing skills (BSL)
  • A valid HCPC registration and membership of a professional body
  • Knowledge of speech, language, and communication needs of relevant populations
  • Understanding of legal frameworks such as the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and DoLS
  • Awareness of SLT roles within secure settings
  • Advanced SLT skills and current best practice knowledge
