Job description

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to enhance the current Salt provision within Manchester City Council’s Children’s Services supporting families and carers whose CYP are ‘On the Edge of Care’. This unique role identifies that our YP who are vulnerable because of their Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs also need support with their SLCN. Do you have an interest in the field of SEMH, and would you describe yourself as passionate in supporting the needs of this complex group of CYP? Do you have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team? Are you keen to try different ways of working?

Responsibilities
  • Assessment of SLCN for identified CYP, followed by support (direct or indirect) and advice to ensure their needs are known and met. We are able to see our YP wherever they feel most comfortable – at home, at Alonzi House, at school etc.
  • A variety of training options that will inform clients, families, and caregivers about communication, social, and emotional skills, and provide strategies for supporting their needs
  • Consultation for all staff working at Alonzi House and our residential home – this includes the Outreach Team, Family Group Conference, Life Long Links team, external professionals and residential staff
  • Individualised interventions in collaboration with key staff members.
  • Adapt and flex in a situation to meet the needs of our young people, and be creative in their critical thinking. Connect with our YP regardless of vulnerabilities and presentation.
  • Be a therapist who is self-aware and has a level of resilience that can support a strong emotional balance. This is a complex and challenging caseload.
