A public health service in Bristol is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to provide assessments and interventions for neurodiverse individuals. The role includes managing a caseload, delivering training, and contributing to multidisciplinary teams. Applicants should have a relevant degree and experience with complex communication needs. To provide specialist assessments and interventions for the neurodiverse population with complex communication needs, including Autism, ADHD, Learning Disability, Acquired Brain Injury, and Dementia.
The role involves managing your own caseload independently, accessing regular clinical and managerial supervision, and championing the SLT profession. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, representing the Speech and Language Therapy Service at meetings and working parties.
You will provide specialist advice to prison officers, other speech and language therapists, professionals, and stakeholders, ensuring involvement of carers and families where appropriate. The role emphasizes compassionate, empathetic, and respectful care.
Maintain knowledge of relevant procedures and policies, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Liberty Protection Safeguards, and safeguarding frameworks.
Follow guidelines regarding working conditions, including exposure to bodily fluids and lone visits.
