Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) North Wales is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Mainstream Schools team for three days per week. You will support children and families across mainstream education settings, collaborating with schools and partner agencies to deliver high-quality SLT services.

Welsh language is desirable; applicants of both Welsh and English speakers are welcome.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in SALT or equivalent.
• HCPC registration.
• Masters level qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Triage and prioritise referrals, manage caseload and allocate cases.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, organised and innovative Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Mainstream Schools team, 3 days a week.

Working collaboratively with children, families, schools and partner agencies, you will support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs across mainstream educational settings. You will also play a key role in working jointly with the wider service including Pre-School and ALN teams to enhance knowledge and support skills needed to provide a high-quality service to all children. You will be involved in service evaluation and development, training junior staff, and working jointly with education in navigating the complexities of universal, targeted and specialist tiered support. Opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) and regular clinical supervision are actively encouraged and supported within BCUHB Speech and Language Therapy Services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; however, Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the triage and prioritisation of referrals, caseload management and allocation and the assessment, intervention and management of a complex paediatric caseload. You will contribute to the delivery of training and education for colleagues, wider multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies, as well as providing clinical education and support to Speech and Language Therapy students.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S&LT
• HCPC registered
• Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level
• Clinical supervisory experience

Desirable criteria

• Membership of appropriate clinical network group
• Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
• Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria

• Significant experience clinically in area of specialism
• Experience of clinical leadership
• Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams
• Delivering Practice Supervision
• Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in relation to clinical specialty

Desirable criteria

• Experience in leading service development / improvement
