Job summary

CYGNET is recruiting a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our North East residential services for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. You will manage a clinical caseload (3 days per week) across sites and supervise a junior SLT.

You will lead delivery of an evidence-based SLT service, train staff, promote best practice and work within a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for residents and their families.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Learning Disabilities including Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
  • Knowledge of low tech/high tech AAC.
  • Ability to assess and manage eating, drinking and swallowing needs.
  • Ability to supervise a junior SLT.
  • Strong team-player with flexible, proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to work across multiple sites in the North East.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of an evidence-based SLT service for complex clients within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Train and supervise other SLTs and support staff across homes (in-person or virtual).
  • Promote best practice and embed inclusive environments for residents, families and care teams.
  • Support research, CPD and service development within the Social Care division.

Working as part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team, you will use your expert skills and knowledge to train others, promote best practice and embed positive and inclusive environments, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that people and their friends and families are true partners in their care. Clinical Supervision will be provided in-house and you will also be required to offer clinical supervision to a junior SLT working in 2 homes nearby (within the same Clinical MDT).You will be joining a team of over 50 SLTs working within Cygnet. The SLT department is well organised and structured by service line. You will implement the agreed clinical pathway for Social Care and contribute to annual service development reviews. We support student placements and if you have a specific area of clinical interest there is also the opportunity for you to discuss this with our in-house Research & Development team.
