Qualifications

Job Title: Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Job Location: Birmingham

Salary: Between £53,508 and £60,001.50 per annum, working 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent

The continued expansion of our organisation has created an opportunity to join as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, a role combining strategic input with consultative practice to impact our services.

We are offering an exciting leadership role within our multidisciplinary Integrated Therapy Team, influencing the development of our Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) services across care and educational settings. This role involves strategic decision-making and service development, with a focus on high standards of care and innovation.

You will oversee line management and clinical supervision of therapists across our sites, mentor less experienced therapists, and dedicate 40% of your time to clinical work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the delivery of SALT services.
  • Managing a caseload of children and young adults with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Designing and delivering evidence-based therapeutic training.
  • Supervising and developing junior therapists and assistants.
  • Collaborating with the Therapies Director on service expansion and improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with professional standards and maintaining clinical records.

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC Registration.
  • At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience, with a minimum of 1 year in supervision or management.
  • Confidence in providing supervision and training.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel to other sites.

Experience in the NHS at a “Band 8a” level is desirable.
