A leading NHS healthcare organization is seeking a specialist to support the development and delivery of a neurodiversity assessment and diagnostic service for children and young people. The role involves assessing needs, implementing evidence-based therapies, and collaborating with educational settings. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and has experience managing complex cases. This position emphasizes partnership with parents and professionals to enhance communication support.
The post holder will support the development and delivery of a comprehensive and highly specialist neurodiversity assessment and diagnostic service to children and young people. You will assess the need for, develop and implement evidence-based speech and language therapy interventions to children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties. You will provide highly specialist second opinions to other speech and language therapists / external professionals and support in the training and development of colleagues within the team. You will be responsible for developing existing care pathways for area of clinical specialism. You will be supported by senior team managers, who hold clinical and strategic lead responsibility for the SLT service. You will understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilities outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014 including contributing to statutory assessments of special educational needs and delivery of Speech and Language Therapy provision as specified in childrens Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will liaise with education settings and parents/carers, providing advice and support. You will also liaise with colleagues in health, education, social care and the voluntary sector as required.
