A leading NHS trust in London seeks a part-time Band 7 Physiotherapist to join its neurometabolic team. This role focuses on treating adult patients with Pompe Disease. Responsibilities include providing high-quality physiotherapy services, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and developing digital solutions for patient self-management. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the neurometabolic team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). This is a part-time Band 7 Physiotherapist role (30 hours per week), funded for two years to treat adult patients with Pompe Disease (acid maltase deficiency, a lysosomal storage disorder) within the department of Inherited Metabolic Diseases and the Therapy and Rehabilitation Services at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN).
The post holder will assess and treat patients with the MDT and independently in telehealth and in clinics. You will liaise with other neurometabolic physiotherapists in England to promote self-management by developing digital solutions.
The post is non-rotational and involves developing a new specialist physiotherapist role in Pompe Disease and other inherited metabolic disorders in the NHNN Charles Dent Metabolic Unit, collaborating with LSD treatment centres across the UK to provide high-standard physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice for patients with chronic and progressive neuro-disability caused by Pompe disease in an outpatient setting.
The post holder is responsible for providing a physiotherapy service to patients with inherited metabolic disorders, prioritising Pompe disease, and reports directly to the consultants in the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit and the acute and outpatient Clinical Specialist in Physiotherapy. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the integrated multidisciplinary LSD teams to offer a comprehensive patient-centred service.

You must have substantive postgraduate experience in a physical, neurological setting. Effective communication and a positive approach to the management of complex disability are essential.
