A leading healthcare organization in Nottingham is looking for a Clinical Advisor to provide expert treatment advice related to childhood obesity. The role involves delivering education to patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within a comprehensive healthcare setting. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work in the community and contribute positively to children's healthcare across various locations.
The Paediatric Tier 3 complications in excess weight (CEW) service uses a holistic approach to treating conditions related to obesity in children and young people. Young people will receive 12 to 18 months of intensive treatment from the MDT with the aim of improving health complications linked to their weight. Referrals to CEW for young people aged 2–18 years are based on the degree of obesity and the presence of comorbidities.
The post will support the Nottinghamshire out-patient clinics based at NUH and will also provide virtual support (and occasional visits) to spoke sites including Derby, Lincoln, Boston and Mansfield. There are opportunities to work within the community (home and school visits) to promote inclusivity for CEW patients, encouraging physical activity and reducing sedentary behaviours.
The advertisement details a part-time post: 0.5 WTE (18.75 hours). We require cover on a Thursday and the remaining two days (ideally Friday and Tuesday/Wednesday). A minimum of 0.4 WTE (15 hours) will be considered. There are also opportunities to support planned paediatric in-patient weekend rosters and to be an integral member of the Children’s Therapy team based in the Nottingham Children's Hospital at the QMC campus of NUH.
The Nottingham Children’s Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We provide in-patient and out-patient care for children up to age 19, with 97 beds and a broad range of services including planned and emergency care, Burns and Plastics, Neurology, Oncology, Paediatric critical care, Renal conditions and transplantation, and Spinal and Orthopaedic care.
The Children’s Therapy team at NCH works closely with the wider MDT to deliver evidence-based care and innovative approaches. NUH employs a diverse range of AHP and support staff, led by our Chief AHP to steer strategic direction.
