Job description


We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and forward-thinking Band 7 Medical Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our Medical team.

The post holder will work as an integral and active part of the Respiratory Physiotherapy team in the provision of a patient-centred In-patient, out-patient service. The service supports a caseload of patients with NIV, ventilated and complex respiratory conditions. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to further develop their acute skills by working within the paediatric respiratory in-patient Physiotherapy team supporting children with a wide range of cardiorespiratory conditions.

· As an autonomous practitioner, to assess and treat own caseload and provide a highly specialist respiratory physiotherapy service to patients.

· To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), assessing and treating patients with respiratory problems and/or requiring physical rehabilitation, including complex cases, and maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.

· To clinically lead the respiratory physiotherapy service for acute medicine in conjunction with the other Band 7 Medical Physiotherapist

· To work closely with the cross-site Clinical Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapists in leading the development of the Respiratory Physiotherapy Service.

· To be responsible for the management of all aspects of the Respiratory Physiotherapy Service you are leading.

· To be responsible for the development and appraisal of team members, including Band 5 & 6s, non-qualified staff and Students. This will also include ensuring competency of staff to work on the on-call rota.

· To regularly provide formal and informal, on-going training and education to physiotherapy staff, medics, other healthcare professions and students.

· To engage in own continued professional development (CPD) and service development, in conjunction with the Clinical Specialist/Consultant.

· To take a lead on clinical audit within the team (e.g. BTS COPD and oxygen audits) and undertake research.
