University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
Do you want to build and develop your existing skills in an area that will further your career prospects? Do you want to learn these new skills in a small supportive, friendly and fun team, but also be part of a much larger pharmacy team based in a large teaching Trust? Or are you already well versed in High Cost Drugs (HCD)? If you answered yes to any of these (or even just a maybe), then this maternity cover role could be for you.
Whilst some experience in HCD would be advantageous, we understand that not everyone will be able to hit the ground running and we just ask that you have a willingness to learn and develop yourself. You will be part of the Critical Evaluation/Formulary team, based in Southampton Medicines Advice Service (SMAS); a dynamic but people-focused environment, and one of the busiest and forward-thinking MI centres in the UK. We will offer you training, support and guidance along with an established network of potentially useful contacts as you settle into your new role.
University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.
Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
At UHS we're committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.
At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We're committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.
There will be loads of variety and multi-disciplinary working as you develop relationships in the wider healthcare community (primary care, NHS England/DHSC, neighbouring Trusts etc.) as well as within the Trust, including consultants, senior nurses, lead pharmacists and non-healthcare professionals (e.g., finance, Trust management). Working closely with senior/lead pharmacists is an excellent opportunity to gain from their knowledge and experience through support and practice.
We're also focused on being the right fit for you and depending on other experience we may be able to offer flexibility, such as developing your problem-solving skills by inputting into our enquiry answering service, or inputting into the other workstreams provided by the Critical Evaluation/Formulary team.
