Highly Specialist Pharmacist – Emergency and Acute Medicine

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team dedicated to improving our ward based clinical pharmacy services. In this key post you will be working as part of an established multidisciplinary team and be responsible for providing a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to our Emergency Department and Admissions wards.

The post holder will work closely with the Lead Pharmacist, Emergency and Acute Medicine, Lead Pharmacist, Clinical Services and Principal Pharmacist, Clinical Services Pharmacist and Clinical Directors to monitor and control the drug use within Emergency and Acute Medicine. The post holder will be pivotal in the day to day delivery of the Pharmacy Clinical Service to these areas. They will support the Lead Pharmacist for Emergency and Acute Medicine on the strategic development of the pharmacy clinical and ward based services and lead on reducing risks associated with medicines within Emergency and Acute Medicine division.

Main duties of the job

As an enthusiastic and patient oriented pharmacist, you will combine expert opinion and expert practice at the bedside to benefit patient care, and work at the forefront within the multidisciplinary team to help us implement, deliver and continually improve medicines management. Overall, you will be responsible for optimizing medicines prescribed on admission, make timely pharmaceutical interventions and facilitate rapid discharge; thereby facilitating high quality patient outcomes whilst ensuring patient safety.

This position offers the opportunity to build on your management experience and specialise in Emergency and Acute Medicine. You will need excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills and will need to enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will need post-registration experience relevant to hospital pharmacy and will have the Post Graduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice or equivalent qualification.
