Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Team (AMSPT). In this dynamic role, you will work closely with the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist and the wider AMS clinical team to help shape and deliver the Trust's innovative, patient-centred antimicrobial stewardship agenda across the Wythenshawe and Trafford sites. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary infection team that includes microbiology, infectious diseases, and infection prevention and control, contributing to a culture of excellence in antimicrobial use.

Main duties of the job: This position is ideally suited to someone who is dynamic, self-motivated, compassionate, and an excellent communicator, with an interest in improving patient care across the healthcare economy. You will be instrumental in delivering a high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy antimicrobial stewardship service. Your work will involve building effective relationships with clinical teams and stakeholders, promoting the safe, responsible, and cost-effective prescribing of antimicrobials to optimise outcomes, reduce adverse reactions and medication errors, and help limit the development of antimicrobial resistance across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition to your stewardship responsibilities, you will also support the critical care clinical services team at Wythenshawe Hospital for two sessions per week, contributing to the broader pharmacy service and patient care initiatives.
