To work as a member of the diabetes dietetic team at St George's Hospital. Responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to diabetic inpatients and outpatients, following evidence-based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, and participating in audit and research related to diabetes to improve health outcomes and develop the service.
This predominantly outpatient role involves nutritional management and specialist diabetes education for adults with diabetes, focusing on Type 1 diabetes. It includes working with diabetes technology such as CGM devices, insulin pumps, and hybrid-closed loop systems. Education is delivered in one-to-one and group settings, including facilitation of DAFNE courses and pump education groups.
The role requires autonomous working, problem-solving skills, and close collaboration within the multidisciplinary team. It also involves service development, audit activities, teaching, advocacy for the Type 1 service, and ICB funding applications for insulin pump technology.
Candidates should have advanced knowledge and experience in diabetes dietetics, with experience working with inpatients and outpatients, and delivering patient education sessions.
