Job description

Main area: Neuropsychology; focus on older people and dementia. Grade NHS AfC: Band 8a. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Part time - 31 hours per week (within 9-5, Monday to Friday service hours). Job ref 437-7090849.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist interested in working with older people to join a friendly and supportive memory assessment team. The post is advertised at Band 8a, but we encourage psychologists in clinical training or those at Band 7 to apply for a preceptorship position.

Main duties of the job

The psychology team at Bolton Memory Assessment Service includes a Principal Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, and trainees, all integral to the multidisciplinary team (MDT). We have strong links with Northwest clinical psychology training programs and FPOP. The postholder will also connect with the wider Older People’s psychology service in GMMH. Regular meetings and training opportunities are available.

Band: 8a

Shifts: Saturday (midnight to midnight), any weekday after 8 pm and before 6 am, all day on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Annual leave: 27 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 29 after 5 years and 33 after 10 years.

Qualifications
  • HCPC registration as a clinical/counselling psychologist.
  • Specialist training in neuropsychology or relevant therapeutic modalities.
  • Recognition as a supervisor for UK DClin courses.
Experience
  • Expertise in psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment of older adults, especially with dementia, across various settings.
  • Significant experience in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in providing consultation, training, and supervision.
