To provide specialist psychological assessments for adults living in BLMK. The post holder will deliver highly specialist psychological autism assessments for a diverse population with a wide range of diagnostic characteristics. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will collaborate with various clinical disciplines and have opportunities for consultation work.
The post holder is expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the Trust's policies. They will also utilize research skills for audit, service development, and research activities.

The role involves providing complex psychological assessments using data from tests, interviews, observations, and reports, within the diagnostic pathway. The team supports new staff training in autism assessment tools such as ADOS, ADI-R, ACIA, and DISCO.

You will join a multidisciplinary team including nurses, a clinical lead consultant psychologist, a clinical psychologist, assistant psychologists, support workers, an occupational therapist, and administrative staff. Your contributions will include supervision, MDT participation, assessments, and formulation. There are opportunities for specialist development, leading quality improvement, and research initiatives. We promote a reflective team culture, encouraging understanding of internal biases and cultural justice to ensure accessible services for diverse populations.
Experience with trauma and mental health issues is desirable; even if you have not worked directly in an autism service, experience with autistic individuals is valuable. We seek a creative, dedicated person interested in autism assessment and neuroaffirming psychoeducation to support autonomy during diagnostic processes.
You will evaluate and make decisions about ongoing support options, considering complex factors related to developmental history and individual circumstances. Outcome data will be collected to ensure appropriate assessments and treatments are delivered.
You will exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessments and discharge decisions, undertake risk assessments, and advise on psychological risk management. Effective communication of assessment, formulation, and treatment plans is essential, along with monitoring progress in both individual and multidisciplinary contexts.
