Job summary

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking a psychologist for a 12-month maternity cover in the CAMHS social care team. The role focuses on specialist assessments and interventions for looked-after children, plus cross‑agency consultation and group work.

Applicants should be a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist with HCPC registration, and experience with safeguarding, multi‑agency teams, and NHS settings is preferred. Right to work in the UK is required.

Job description

Maternity cover for 12 months in the Social Care CAMHS team at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, a small service embedded in the local authority. Work centres on specialist assessment and intervention for looked-after children and those on Child in Need or Child Protection plans, plus consultation for social workers and foster carers. The post stands out for its trauma-informed, multi-agency approach and its mix of direct work, groups and training. Visa sponsorship is not offered, so applicants need the right to work already.

What the job involves

Registration & licences

Experience

• Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people in community settings
• Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
• Experience of multi-agency working, especially social care, YJS or PRU
• Experience of safeguarding and child protection
• Experience of working with looked-after children and young people with complex mental health needs and their families

Skills & knowledge

• Keen interest in multi-agency working and in Health and Education partnership

Checks & eligibility

Nice to have

• Training as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidence-based approach
• Training in DDP, EMDR, CBT-TF or another trauma-focused intervention
• ADOS and/or ADI training

• Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
