Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust

This is a full-time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part-time.

CAMHS Clinical/Counselling Psychologists. Maternity cover 12-month fixed term contract.

We are seeking an experienced Psychologist who has a passion for working with children, young people, and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide maternity cover.

Psychologists are highly regarded in the service and there are excellent relationships within the service where staff are supported with regular clinical, line management, and ongoing CPD opportunities.

If you are a HCPC registered psychologist with experience of working in CAMHS, offering therapeutic interventions, supervising others, and providing clinical leadership, we would love to hear from you.

Main Duties of the Job

The post is in the Herefordshire CAMHS team which is a highly supportive, experienced, and dynamic team offering a wide range of psychological interventions and care to children in Herefordshire. In this post, you would be offering highly specialised psychological interventions directly to children and families, providing clinical supervision to trainee and qualified psychologists and other senior clinicians in the team, and providing clinical leadership in the delivery of psychological and trauma-informed care. There is a supportive team of psychologists in the service who are trained in delivering a wide range of interventions SFT, ACT, DDP, Theraplay, CAT, CFT, EMDR, and NVR.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities, The post holder will:

Undertake the assessment, treatment, and management of patients referred to the Service/Team or locality, with a varying range of severity and complexity of psychological problems and psychiatric disorders. In particular, patients with psychological conditions and psychiatric disorders referred by other health professionals, as specified by the Team/Service Manager and the Service Lead for Psychological Interventions, some of which may be highly specialised. Assessment and intervention to involve families and carers, as appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology.
  • Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Post qualification training/ experience in specific, evidence-based techniques for use with clients with complex psychological presentations and/or physical health difficulties, across the age span.
  • Evidence of regular further professional training and experience as required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the BPS.
  • Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS.
  • Eligible for registration as a Practitioner member of the BPS Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
  • Registered with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at the point of offer.
Experience
  • Experience required specific to the role and clinical area.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working as a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within the relevant area.
  • Experience of leading in relation to the development and organisation of psychological interventions within a given clinical area.
  • Sufficient training and experience to be recognised by the Division of Clinical/Counselling Psychology as a suitably qualified psychologist to offer clinical placements to trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists.
  • Training and experience in the application of psychological knowledge across a range of mental health presentations, including organic illness, functional mental health, and physical health.
  • Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to patients presenting with the full degree of clinical severity and across a range of clinical mental health presentations across the life span and care settings.
  • Experience of multi-agency/multidisciplinary working.
  • Therapeutic expertise in working with carers/families/couples.
  • Experience of conducting clinically relevant research.
