The post holder will be a specialist in the field of implantable CRM devices, including CRT, conduction system and leadless pacemaker pacing. This challenging role will be based primarily within the CRM device implant labs and follow up clinics.
The post holder will be expected to:
Act as the lead within a multidisciplinary team for CRM device implants. This will include liaising with the principal physiologists, clinical lead of EP, EP/ CRM consultants, admissions teams, procurement, heart failure team, and junior members of staff to ensure a high standard of care for patients undergoing device implantation.
Ensure that the device implant and follow up services interfaces with other services as effectively as possible.
Cross cover and support to the lead physiologist(s) for CRM in the day-to-day running of the CRM service.
Actively contribute to the smooth running of a quality service and undertake additional managerial responsibilities as designated by the principal physiologists.
Demonstrate clinical proficiency in a wide range of techniques, and to actively maintain competency in these and to work in all areas of clinical physiology (interventional labs and non-invasive diagnostics) when required.
In conjunction with the principal cardiac physiologists, develop advanced clinical practices within the department such as Healthcare Scientist/ Physiologist led ILR implant service. Take part in the on-call service for primary angioplasty and emergency arrhythmia pathway.

Practice as a specialist autonomous professional in CRM device implantation including ILR, pacemakers, ICD, CRT-P/D and CSP pacing and show proficiency in exercising clinical judgement when required.
Practice safely and effectively, providing clinical and physiological advice when appropriate; primarily to the physiologist colleagues, specialist registrars, EP/ CRM consultants and the clinical lead of EP.
Set standards in the fields of CRM implants, and to continually develop and update these to ensure they incorporate current professional recommendations and evidence based practice.
Keep abreast of developments in management of implantable device technology across a broad range of manufacturers and disseminate new information to other members of staff effectively.
Comply with national and international guidelines such as BHRS, HRS, EHRA, NICE, ESC and SCST as well as local clinical guidelines; and ensure that these guidelines are adhered to.
Ensure that Kings CRM device service interfaces with other implantation and follow up centres in a professional and productive manner, facilitating the exchange of patient records and minimising disruption to patient care.
Perform regular audits to ensure compliance with local and national standards.
Participate in a wide range of routine and advanced clinical investigations and procedures, including on call for primary angioplasty and emergency arrhythmia pathway.
Deliver training, mentorship and supervision of cardiac physiologists, as well as actively participate in the training and competency completion of PTP and STP students.
Maintain the local clinical physiologist training programme, and to develop associated departmental training resources.
Identify training needs for staff, trainees and apprentices as well as patients and deliver teaching and training; and inform principal cardiac physiologists and lead for education, of the teaching/training given and further educational/practical needs identified.
Identify projects suitable for PTP/ STP trainees.
Attend relevant courses and conferences as well as identify appropriate courses for others.
Participate in and deliver departmental seminars and scientific meetings to disseminate knowledge acquired through study or research.
Contribute positively to the leadership of the whole clinical physiology staff and the smooth running of the entire department.
The post-holder will also be expected to be an independent decision maker, responsible and accountable and able to support the Principal Cardiac Physiologists in their absence.
Take a proactive approach to minimising clinical risk to CRM patients and manage any related clinical incidents, in conjunction with the principal physiologists and clinical lead of EP.
Assist the principal physiologist for CRM devices, to coordinate the management and identification of device patients that are subject to a manufacturers advisory or recall.
Independently plan and prioritise workload across days/ weeks; and has ability to delegate tasks and utilise workforce to the optimum efficiency.
Monitor and take action on MHRA device alerts and field safety notices in order to meet safety and compliance regulation.
