Bradford is expanding it's imaging department and are looking for new team members to join us. Are you an innovative and dynamic cardiac scientist looking for a new challenge? We are looking for someone with a passion for cardiac science who can be part of our growing imaging service.

We provide a wide range of complex cardiac and respiratory investigations including cardiac and metabolic stress testing, TTE, TOE and stress echocardiography. Bradford has a diverse population and the range of pathology makes for an interesting and challenging caseload. There is a significant paediatric echo service which could be expanded if the post holder has an interest in CHD. We are about to complete a large dedicated Cardiology IT system project, pulling together all the clinical and admin systems across the department. We have just undertaken a UKAS benchmarking exercise which found our services to be safe with areas of excellent care, and staff demonstrating good clinical knowledge and commitment to providing the best patient care possible. We are now moving towards submitting our application to attain IQiPS accreditation.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their colleagues as well as themselves. Newly accredited staff will be supported to develop experience and gain any additional competencies required (Annex 21 may apply). Professional and personal development are really encouraged and we have a dedicated training budget in order to facilitate this. We have a track record of supporting staff through the equivalence process in order to achieve Clinical Scientist status.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring continued service delivery of their specialism and adherence to national, international and local best practice.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying, advising and introducing service developments and implementing changes to practice in the field based on evidence based research and best practice guidelines. The post holder, along with the Lead Cardiac Physiologist for education and training and the Head of Service will be responsible for devising and implementing training plans in their specialist field, ensuring all physiology staff involved in that service are competent to practice independently and have obtained or are supported to work towards specialist accreditation. They will also be responsible for the ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) of competent staff through education, peer review and staff appraisal.

About us

We have a track record of supporting our staff to achieve, including specialist accreditation and STP equivalence.

Our People Charter outlines the behaviors we can expect from one another and what you can expect from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust:

  • We care
We're keen to meet people who share these values and are passionate about delivering the highest quality of care to our patients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to engage in service development and re-design, as well as develop themselves as a professional - all within a supportive and nurturing environment.
