Highly Specialised Physiotherapist

We are seeking to recruit a Band 7 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist with experience in working with individuals living with chronic pain to join the Chronic Pain Self Management Team at St George's Hospital.

The Chronic Pain Self Management Team (CPSMT) is a well-established multidisciplinary team providing highly specialist assessments and interventions for patients with complex chronic pain conditions. Our goal is to support patients referred to our service in developing self-management skills to improve their quality of life despite pain. Our interventions focus on enhancing understanding of chronic pain, increasing functional ability and engagement in valued activities, managing pain-related distress, and reducing unnecessary healthcare utilization.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working within the team supported by regular supervision from a senior physiotherapist, participation in monthly CPD sessions, team handover meetings, and case discussions.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
Registration
  • HCPC registration
Experience
  • At least 1 year of NHS experience
  • Minimum 4 years post-registration experience, including 2 years in outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy at Band 6 level, involving referrals from consultants, GPs, rheumatology, orthopaedics, and chronic pain management
Knowledge
  • Good understanding of complex pain syndromes and experience working with patients with long-term conditions
