Role Summary

To undertake, supervise and teach at highly specialist level a broad range of complex echocardiography and cardiac clinical physiology procedures throughout the Community Diagnostic Centre Southland's Shoreham-by-Sea and associated locations as required. To work on all sites for the purposes of training, quality assurance and cover when required.

To work to the standards set by the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE), Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST), British Cardiac Society (BCS) and also the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS)/ Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP)

Main duties of the job
  • To provide expert knowledge in highly specialist clinical areas and without supervision carry out a broad range of complex echocardiography
  • Perform and report transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) to BSE standard
  • Analyse, interpret and write reports for above clinical procedures based on knowledge and experience of normal and abnormal criteria.
  • To provide specialist advice to clinicians regarding results to enable further development of individual care plans.
  • To lead in the support of all cardiac physiologists in training
  • Effectively and professionally deal with emergency situations.
  • Continue to develop highly specialist knowledge and experience including sufficient CPD to maintain professional registration
  • To have responsibility for stock control in designated areas ensure stock levels are maintained appropriately and tracking of high value items.
  • Adheres to Trust policies and procedures
  • Actively maintain a safe working environment in accordance with H&S and COSHH policies.
  • Maintain adherence to relevant guidelines for infectious diseases including staying up-to-date with donning and doffing of appropriate PPE.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Principal Cardiac Physiologist or his/her deputies
