Job summary

Inverness-shire Manufacturer is seeking a time-served, dual-trained maintenance engineer to work across electrical and mechanical assets on site. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults with electrical test equipment and PLCs, and keep asset records up to date.

The role offers a permanent, full-time position on a four-week, 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights) with overtime opportunities. A safety-first mindset and strong fault-finding skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Time served, dual trained electrical and mechanical engineer with industrial experience.
• C&G or NVQ, 18th Edition or equivalent.
• Experience with motor controls, plus temperature and pressure sensing and control systems.
• Planned preventative maintenance experience.
• Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to read electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of bearings, belt drives, couplings, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Safety-first mindset and a good level of computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Completing visual inspections, reporting findings and making repairs.
• Diagnosing and repairing faults using electrical repair and test equipment.
• Responding quickly to breakdowns and emergency call outs.
• Running weekly, monthly and six-monthly planned maintenance checks.
• Diagnosing PLC control level issues.
• Carrying out root cause analysis and keeping accurate repair records.
• Working closely with production to keep downtime to a minimum.
