Job summary

Right There in the Highlands is seeking a Family Support Worker to join the Highland Intensive Family Support programme. You will work with young people aged 12 to 18 at risk of exploitation or accommodation away from family, delivering practical and emotional support over a focused 12-week period.

Based in Inverness with flexible hours, you will build trusted relationships, coordinate with Social Work and Police, and advocate for families.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people and families facing challenges.
• Passion for improving the lives of young people and supporting families to stay together when safe.
• Knowledge of trauma, poverty, and family breakdown.
• Understanding of GIRFEC, UNCRC, The Promise and SSSC Codes of Practice.
• Ability to prioritise, keep accurate records and produce clear reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital systems.
• Willingness to travel across the area with a valid licence and vehicle access.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible, intensive support to young people and families across Inverness and surrounding areas.
• Work with Social Work, Police, Education and partners for joined-up support.
• Use a restorative approach to resolve conflicts and build resilience.
• Carry out whole-family assessments focusing on needs, risks and outcomes.
• Support wellbeing, education, safety planning and family relationships.
• Advocate for young people and families in planning and decisions.
• Maintain case files and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
