Kettering Science Academy, part of Brooke Weston Trust, is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver targeted interventions in English, Mathematics or Science. You will work with teachers to support students, build confidence and help learners make progress in a dynamic secondary school environment.
We welcome graduates across English, Maths or Science and value passionate, reflective individuals who can adapt to diverse learning needs and contribute to professional development
This is much more than a traditional classroom support role. Working closely with subject teachers and curriculum leaders, you will plan and deliver targeted academic interventions to individuals and small groups of students who need additional support to succeed in English, Mathematics or Science. You will help students overcome gaps in their knowledge, develop essential skills and, just as importantly, rebuild their confidence as learners. Depending on your subject specialism, your work might involve developing reading fluency and comprehension, strengthening mathematical understanding and reasoning, or helping students grasp important scientific concepts. You will be an integral part of a curriculum team, working alongside experienced teachers to understand how students learn, adapt approaches to meet individual needs and evaluate the impact of your work. Thinking about becoming a teacher? If you are a graduate considering a career in teaching, this could be a fantastic place to start. As part of Brooke Weston Trust, we have close links with the Northamptonshire Teaching School Hub and access to a wide network of experienced teachers, subject specialists and professional development opportunities. You will gain valuable, practical experience of planning and delivering learning, assessing progress, supporting students with different needs and understanding what makes teaching effective. For those interested in progressing into teaching, we can offer advice, guidance and support in exploring potential teacher training pathways through our Trust and Teaching School Hub connections, subject to individual eligibility and programme availability.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Curriculum Intervention: English, Mathematics or Science. An exciting opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers and experienced education professionals. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and ambitious Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our English, Mathematics and Science departments. These are exciting opportunities for graduates considering a career in teaching, individuals looking to develop their experience in education, or experienced HLTAs who want to make a real difference to young people's learning. We would particularly welcome applications from graduates in English, Mathematics, Science or related subjects, including those considering teacher training in the future. We are equally interested in hearing from experienced teaching assistants or other individuals who have the subject knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm to help students succeed. Above all, we are looking for people who:
We believe that every young person has brilliance within them. Our job is to find it, nurture it and help it shine. We know that when students struggle with learning, the right support, encouragement and teaching can make all the difference. Kettering Science Academy is a school with a strong commitment to inclusion, professional learning and doing what is right for young people.
We are proud of the progress we are making at Kettering Science Academy, but we also recognise that there is more to do. We want colleagues who are excited by that challenge and who believe, as we do, that young people deserve adults who will find a way to help them succeed. Whether you are taking your first steps towards a career in teaching or bringing experience from an existing educational role, we would love to hear from you.
Kettering Science Academy was delighted to receive a Good Ofsted rating in July 2023. This report recognised the work which has been done over many years in ensuring our children get the education they deserve. We actively encourage students to participate in all areas of academy life, motivating and inspiring them to unlock their potential and realise their ambitions. We believe education is about more than achieving success in exams; it is about preparing students for the challenges and demands of life beyond education. We are not complacent and we know there is still much more we need to do. We are working hard to preserve the best of our collective past, whilst at the same time co-creating with all interested parties a renewed vision for the future. Staff have an uncompromising commitment to this and work closely with one another to support and develop students as well as one another.
At Brooke Weston Trust we believe every child deserves the best possible start, giving them a "ticket for life." If you want to use your skills with an organisation committed to making a difference and improving lives, this is the place for you.
Our Trust was formed more than 30 years ago with a simple and clear mission - to transform educational performance in all of our communities. Working in some of the most challenging contexts, we improve our students' achievements by making long term commitments to the community and championing new approaches to improve the life chances for young people. Our members of staff are essential to realising this vision, and a happy, motivated and supported team will deliver the best possible experiences for our young people. We place great emphasis on creating a supportive and collaborative working environment in all our schools, where all staff can share best practice through our colleague networks. Brooke Weston Trust staff have access to first class professional development through our Centre for Professional Development, which is also home to the Northamptonshire Teaching School Hub.
