Job description

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract: Long term temporary

Leader Education are recruiting a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for an SEMH school.

This school is an alternative learning provider that works with young learners and their families across the City of Sunderland. This school supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs; therefore, experience with SEMH or vulnerable individuals would be highly beneficial.

This school, dedicated solely to Key Stage 3, has demonstrated consistent academic growth, guiding all its students to excellence while creating a warm, supportive, and proud community.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:00am until 4pm.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Have a Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Possess previous experience working with individuals with SEMH needs.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils.
