Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Outdoor Education

Location: Salisbury

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-16:30

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant specializing in Outdoor Education to join our school, The Spires, in Salisbury. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to positively impact students' lives by fostering their physical development, teamwork, and personal growth.

At Five Rivers Child Care, your day will be varied and engaging. You will follow a flexible structure while supporting children and young people through bespoke therapeutic and educational frameworks tailored to each individual. Responsibilities may include teaching in classrooms or outdoor community settings, especially supporting children unable to attend school.

You will work within a trauma-informed practice model, supporting therapeutic approaches. Our schools have received the ‘Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School Gold Award’.

Our young people may have experienced multiple adult relationships, often contributing to their trauma. We seek committed individuals eager to develop their careers within a therapeutically focused organization, with Ofsted-registered schools and leading alternative education provisions (1 ACE).

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging physical education and sports coaching sessions, adapting activities to diverse needs and abilities.
  • Assess student progress and contribute to care plans.
  • Collaborate with the Teacher in Charge to plan lessons and prepare resources.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment encouraging participation and success.
  • Organize and manage school sports events and competitions.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies within the statutory educational framework.
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through CPD opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Good educational background; degree preferred.
  • Experience as a TA/HLTA.
  • Proven sports coaching experience in schools or alternative settings.
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum and differentiation strategies.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
