Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Sheffield: Part Time

Start date: September 2025

The Role and School

The role of HLTA (Higher level teaching assistant) would see the successful candidate leading small groups of children between the ages of 3 to 11 years old. The role of a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant is to complement the work of teachers by taking responsibility for the organisation and support of agreed learning activities for classes where all pupils have special educational needs. The schools are rated good by Ofsted and cater for pupils with Moderate learning disabilities and autism.

Requirements

The desired HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) will have:

  • Hold a HLTA qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable children or adults
