About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality learning experiences. Working closely with teaching staff, you ll lead small group sessions, cover lessons when required, and support students in reaching their full potential. Your creativity, initiative, and leadership will help shape a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Lead whole-class sessions and provide targeted support to small groups or individual students.
  • Support the development of students academic, social, and emotional skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reports.
  • Assist in the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.

Requirements of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

  • Previous experience as a HLTA or in a similar role.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students learning and development.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
