Secondary Higher Level Teaching Assistant PRU AP - Bristol (BS16)

Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour? Are you interested in supporting young people's Mental Health?

A secondary PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in Fishponds is currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join them ASAP. The PRU caters for children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period before finding a place in a specialist setting.

Salary: £95 - £120 per day, depending on experience

Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4.30pm, Friday 8:30 - 4.00pm

Term: Term time only plus 5 inset days

Location: Bristol - BS16 - free parking on site or easily accessible by public transport

About the Higher Level Teaching Assistant role:

  1. Providing learning support to KS3 and KS4 students who struggle with learning, social, or emotional barriers and helping them to rediscover their love for education.
  2. Inspiring and empowering young pupils, fostering growth in their social skills, emotional resilience, and academic achievements.
  3. 1:1 assistance for pupils with Special Needs and challenging behaviour.
  4. Working alongside fully trained therapists and psychologists as well as other professionals within the education/mental health field.

What we need from you:

  1. A graduate (2:2 or above - Psychology and Criminology desirable) OR an experienced teaching assistant / learning support assistant who is passionate about Special Educational Needs and Behavioural Needs.
  2. Excellent communication skills.
  3. Resilient and confident to work with challenging behaviour.
