Job summary

Bright Futures Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support children with a range of additional needs in Essex. The role involves delivering planned activities, guiding learners and ensuring progress under the supervision of teachers.

Ideal candidates will have SEND experience or a strong interest in moving into specialist SEND education, with a calm and proactive approach to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • HLTA with SEND experience preferred or willing to transition from mainstream.
  • Capable of leading learning activities and working independently.
  • Calm, patient and positive approach with safeguarding mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes.
  • Lead the class when required under direction of teaching staff.
  • Support pupils to access learning and make progress.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement EHCP targets and individual support strategies.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support and guide other classroom support staff where appropriate.
  • Build positive and consistent relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Bright Futures Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in Essex that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who already has SEND experience, or someone currently working within a mainstream setting who has a genuine interest in moving into specialist SEND education.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to support children and young people with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering planned learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes
  • Leading the class when required under the direction of teaching staff
  • Supporting pupils to access learning and make progress
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping implement EHCP targets and individual support strategies
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Supporting and guiding other classroom support staff where appropriate

Who We’re Looking For

  • Are committed to safeguarding and achieving the best outcomes for young people

Previous SEND experience is welcomed but is not essential. Experienced HLTAs currently working in mainstream education who are looking to transition into SEND are strongly encouraged to apply and will be considered.
