Job description

GSL Education is currently recruiting for a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work at a welcoming and well-resourced primary school in Buckhurst Hill. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September.

As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process, leading small group interventions, covering lessons when required, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher

  • Support individual pupils and small groups across various year groups, including children with additional needs

  • Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities under teacher guidance

  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupil progress

  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment

  • Provide feedback to teachers and contribute to assessments as needed

Requirements:
  • HLTA qualification or relevant experience in a similar role

  • Proven experience working within a primary school setting

  • Strong classroom management and the ability to lead learning independently

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning across the school

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
