Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Barnsley
Salary: Up to £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you a qualified HLTA ready to bring energy, flexibility, and expertise to a vibrant primary setting?

GSL Education are looking to appoint a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a school in Barnsley starting this September. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering engaging interventions, providing classroom cover, and supporting pupils across the curriculum.

Role Overview:

As an HLTA, you will support teachers by delivering lessons, leading interventions, and providing cover when needed. You ll work closely with pupils to enhance their learning, help manage the classroom, and contribute to creating an inclusive and positive school environment.

Responsibilities as Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Lead small group sessions and deliver planned learning activities.
  • Cover lessons in the teacher s absence and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with varying needs.
  • Support teachers with planning, assessment, and classroom organisation.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for all learners.

Requirements for HLTA:

  • Hold HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience supporting teaching and learning in a school setting.
  • Confident leading whole-class learning when needed.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Full CV covering the last 10 years (with any gaps explained).
