Job description

HLTA Required for All-Age Autism-Specific SEND School

About the School

Axcis is working with an all-age school catering to individuals with a primary diagnosis of Autism (ASC). Located within the Wolverhampton area, the school offers good transport links and ample parking facilities.

Position Overview

The school is recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support learning activities for individuals and groups of learners. The role involves:

  1. Planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities.
  2. Monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting learners' achievement, progress, and development.

You will also manage and develop a specialist area within the school, train teaching assistants, and monitor their work within this area.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and a minimum of 5 years' experience working as a teaching assistant in a special school environment.
  • Proficiency in Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT.
  • Level 4 HLTA qualification is desirable but not essential.
Job Details
  • Supporting individuals and groups with Autism and other additional needs.
  • Full-time hours (8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
  • Ongoing position for the 2025/26 academic year, leading to a permanent contract.
  • Start date: September 2025.
Requirements
  • 5 years' experience as a teaching assistant in a SEND school (Essential).
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (Essential).
  • Experience supporting learners with complex SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, Autism, and PMLD (Essential).
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one (Essential).
  • Minimum of 2 good references (Essential).
