Job description

Location: Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday, term time only
Salary: £89-£100 per day (dependent on experience)
Duration: Initially until July 2026, with a view to becoming permanent

Overview:
We are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive secondary school in Stockport to appoint a dedicated and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This role is ideal for an experienced support staff member ready to take on additional responsibilities including lesson delivery, planning support, and classroom management.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 in a variety of subjects, with a particular focus on English, Maths, or Science

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons during teacher absence (cover supervision duties)

  • Leading intervention groups to help bridge gaps in learning and boost attainment

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of student learning plans (SEMH/SEND/academic)

  • Working closely with teachers, Heads of Year, and the SENCO to ensure all pupils are given equal opportunities to thrive

  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to assessment and feedback

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A recognised HLTA qualification (or substantial experience in a comparable TA role)

  • Experience supporting learners aged 11-16

  • Strong classroom presence and confidence in behaviour management strategies

  • Flexibility to adapt to different subjects and learning needs

  • A proactive, professional attitude and strong communication skills
