GSL Education are currently seeking skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work in schools across Rotherham. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals who can take on additional responsibilities and provide high-quality support across a range of year groups and subjects.

About the Role:

As an HLTA, you will be expected to support teaching staff in delivering the curriculum, work with small groups or individual pupils, and on occasion, lead lessons under the guidance of a teacher. You’ll play a key role in promoting pupil progress, behaviour, and well-being while helping to maintain a productive learning environment.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

• Lead small group learning sessions or whole-class cover lessons when required
• Support the planning and delivery of high-quality lessons across the curriculum
• Assist with marking and assessing pupil work under teacher guidance
• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils needing additional support
• Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines
• Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support pupil learning
• Use data and observation to support progress tracking and reporting
• Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the wider school life
• Uphold school policies and promote a culture of inclusion and respect

Candidate Requirements for an HLTA:

• Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
• Previous experience working in a school setting as an HLTA
• Confident leading lessons and managing a classroom in the teacher’s absence
• Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching strategies
• Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
• A flexible, calm, and positive approach to supporting learning
• Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
