We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Providing support for learners, teachers and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage learners to become independent, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of learners in all aspects of school life
  • You may be asked to teach/cover classes that are clearly structured, interesting and motivating
  • Be aware of difference, promote inclusion and ensure that learners have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. Foster and maintain positive relationships with all learners, parents/carers, visiting professionals and members of the local and wider community
  • Use behaviour and management strategies in line with school policies and procedures and promote the emotional well-being of all learners
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate learners progress through a range of activities and give verbal and written feedback to learners, parents/carers on their progress
  • Contribute to the ethos and aims of the school by attending meetings and training sessions and by making a positive input at those meetings to the ongoing development of policies and procedures
  • Assisting teachers in the support, training, mentoring of other learning support assistants

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of supporting young people with SEN
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the educational and emotional needs of pupils with diverse learning requirements
  • Possesses excellent communication skills to establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
  • Exhibits strong organisational abilities and the capacity to manage individualised education plans effectively
