Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Contract Type: Temporary

Hours: Full-time

Location: Buckhurst Hill

GSL Education is currently recruiting for a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work at a welcoming and well-resourced primary school in Buckhurst Hill. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September.

As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process, leading small group interventions, covering lessons when required, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver pre-prepared lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher

Support individual pupils and small groups across various year groups, including children with additional needs

Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities under teacher guidance

Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupil progress

Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment

Provide feedback to teachers and contribute to assessments as needed

Requirements:

HLTA qualification or relevant experience in a similar role

Proven experience working within a primary school setting

Strong classroom management and the ability to lead learning independently

Excellent communication and organisational skills

A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning across the school

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
