South Tyneside Council is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join Simonside Primary School in Jarrow. The role is 37 hours per week, term-time only, with a permanent post starting October 2026.
The salary is £29,542 per annum pro rata and you will work under the guidance of teachers to support learning and cover lessons as needed. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, flexible and hardworking practitioner with a passion to move learning forward within our school.

The Governors and Head Teacher are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within the school to support our teaching and learning. You must be a fun, flexible, hardworking practitioner with high expectations and a passion to move learning forward within our school.
Your role will involve working under the guidance of teaching/ senior staff, planning and implementing agreed work programmes with individuals/ groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas. Staff will supervise and deliver lessons to whole classes during the absence of teachers.
