Academics are actively looking for an experienced HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) for a lovely school in Watford. The school is looking for a HLTA who has experience working with SEN students.

This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced HLTA starting from September.

£90 to £115 per day depending on experience

HLTA Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties of HLTAs vary; however, your key duties will consist of supporting the class teacher, small group intervention, and lesson cover across KS3 and KS4.

An HLTA, or Higher Level Teaching Assistant, assists teachers inside and outside the classroom. Their primary duties include preparing lesson plans, teaching classes, and reporting on student progress.

1. Preparing classrooms for lessons and sourcing books and handouts for students
2. Teaching classes unassisted, especially when teachers are ill or on leave
3. Planning and delivering learning and enrichment activities, either with teachers or independently
4. Working with small groups of students or individuals needing special attention
5. Developing specialist curricula in areas of interest
6. Assessing students' progress and discussing development with teachers, parents, and carers
7. Consoling students who are unwell, injured, or upset
8. Supervising student groups on excursions and at sporting events

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Minimum Level 4 HLTA Qualification
2. Desired Level 6 Diploma in Teaching and Learning
3. Desired experience working within a secondary school
4. Experience and confidence covering lessons
5. Able to plan and deliver small group intervention
