Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and learning across schools. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, providing high-quality support to pupils, leading whole-class sessions, and assisting in planning and delivering lessons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Learning Support:
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
    • Cover classes in the teacher’s absence, ensuring continuity of learning.
    • Support individual and small group interventions to raise attainment.
    • Assess pupils' progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Classroom & Behaviour Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Manage pupil behaviour effectively following the school’s policies.
    • Provide pastoral support to pupils when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons.
  • Support teachers in assessing and recording pupil progress.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching materials and resources.
  • General Duties:
    • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
    • Communicate effectively with parents and carers when required.
    • Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in line with school policies.
Person Specification

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.

Experience working with primary-aged children in a classroom setting.

Strong understanding of the National Curriculum.

Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Experience leading whole-class teaching.

Additional qualifications in SEND or EAL support.

First Aid training.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK
  • At least 2 references covering 24 months of experience
  • Child Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
